The Forever Five Foundation

The Dubé family story is one that is being shared and honoured through the Dubé Classic and Forever Five Foundation, in the hopes that through a tremendous amount of darkness, light can continue to shine.

April 5th, 2021 is a day that will forever be carved into the hearts of those who know and love the Dubé family.  On this day Kyle and Jeanette’s precious boy, and Liam and Jaxon’s little brother was lost to suicide at only sixteen years of age.  Luke had a forever curious mind, a strong dedication to the things he was passionate for and a deep love for his family and friends.  He had the most incredible laugh and his beautiful blue eyes captivated anyone who was lucky enough to look into them.  Losing Luke shattered his family and friends into more pieces than are countable and cloaked a community in darkness and confusion.  While minds were spinning, so many questions unanswered, hearts ripped open, the Dubé family chose to speak up, to share the truth of Luke’s loss, to not shy away from the stigma that surrounds suicide.  In the midst of utter darkness, they offered people light.  Their voices were heard, light was shone, lives were saved.  

To honour Luke on each April 5 after that, the Dubés asked their family, friends and community to continue to “Be a Light for Luke”.  To reach and see those around them who may be experiencing darkness and offer them a ray of light through gestures and actions of hope and love.  Again, their voices were heard, light was shone, lives were saved.

After three years of trudging down the most painful road of grief one might imagine, the unimaginable happened. On March 3, 2024, Kyle was lost to sudden cardiac arrest.  The Dubé family and their community once again found themselves shattered and confused by such an unexplainable loss.  Kyle was the most incredible light to not only his family but all those who knew him.  His reach was far and wide, even through his grief he continued to impact the lives of so many.  Kyle saw and acknowledged the pain and hardship that others were walking.  He was committed to having open conversation, to being authentic, to walking together.  His voice was heard, light was shone, lives were saved.

Kyle and Luke have left the most incredible trail of light for all those whose lives they touched but they have so much more light to share with this world. 

Therefore, this foundation has been created by friends and family of the Dubés to create a place where light continues to shine for those who need it most.  To honour the light of Kyle and Luke.  To allow it to continue to illuminate a world that can be all too dark at times.  

While it is early days for the Forever Five Foundation, we are committed to developing a mission and upholding core values that both Kyle and Luke would be proud of.  We are committed to communicate the light that these funds will shine into our community.

Kyle, Jeanette, Liam, Jaxon and Luke are Forever Five and we will help the light of Forever Five shine as brightly as we can.
